Health Insurance Book: About the Author

Jonathan did not initially set out to write a book about health insurance. However, when researching the subject in order to purchase health insurance for himself and his family he was shocked that there was not a simple “how to book” about purchasing health insurance already available. So he did the research himself and what he discovered was a wealth of untapped information, a lot of scary stories, and was bombarded by questions from friends who were also confused and curious about the whole process of buying health insurance. He also got a great deal of support from the contributors, who are nationally recognized experts in health insurance and financial planning.

Starting my own company was something I was very familiar with since I have done it before, however I was not as familiar with buying health insurance. I knew as much as I needed to know in order to select the options offered by my employer but knew little about the details or buying it myself. In fact I was a little overwhelmed by the process and the idea that it was going to cost a fortune to insure my family of five. My wife and I have heard so many scary stories about people buying health insurance and then not being covered when something happened or even worse choosing to go without health insurance altogether. Jonathan Pletzke is married and is an active father of three young children. He and his family currently live in the peaceful town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is the author of many technical non-fiction books and publications. He enjoys reading and writing books pertaining to finance, food, and fun.

Jonathan is not and has never been a health insurance agent. He is a truly independent consumer health insurance advocate and author with no affiliation with any insurer, agency, or health insurance special interest group. Jonathan's prior experience included consulting in a number of industries including commercial and life insurance.
