If you want to find out how much a certain medical procedure costs, you may try to contact one or more providers to get an estimate. This doesn't mean that it is how much it will end up costing you. Once you are in the office, one or more additional things might be needed, and your cost could be higher. When was the last time your doctor asked you if you wanted something before going ahead and doing it - and then putting it on your bill afterwards?
To figure out the true costs of medical care, a new website has been created by some healthcare IT folks. It allows you to search for medical cost information by type of cost and location. You can also contribute your health costs - from bills or explanation of benefits from insurers.
